Team Rocket’s Battle Royal
It had been a sickening thud the scientist had made as he collapsed. Nurse Joy was waving the scanning rod over North’s prone body. “My god!” she gasped. “His platelet levels! They’re so LOW! What happened to this man!?”
Platelets? The word flashed in M2 head. “Oh no!” he said. “The radiation!”
“Radiation? What radiation?” Joy yelled as she dug into
the medical bag North had provided her.
“We were near ground zero when a droid of his self destructed, taking out one of Mauvais’ Mega Haunters,” M2 explained. “The droid used a small near-nuclear power source.”
PBM gave M2 a look of bewilderment. “Near-NUCLEAR? I thought it was the GHOST that nuked us!”
“Nope,” groaned North. “At least he didn’t have an anti-matter power source… uhhh!”
Joy started pulling all sorts of stuff out of the bag in a slight panic. “You mean you two were radiated as well?” she asked, looking at a sonic screwdriver she had found.
“MewTwos immune to radiation…” North croaked. “P-Pikachu protected by PB… PB… M… H - Hypo… quickly… quickly…” North shook violently.
“Hypo? What hypo? What’s a hypo?” the Nurse scrambled. M2 reached over and put a paw on her shoulder.
“Calm, nurse,” he told her. “Use the scanning rod… it will tell you what you want.”
The nurse nodded and took a breath. She waved the rod over North again, and then pressed a button that said “Diagnose.”
From under the junk she had pulled from the bag came a strange little orb. It floated about with a red light on its ‘head’. “Medical Emergency! Medical Emergency!” it squawked.
“What IS that?” Charm said in awe of the little flying tennis ball.
“I am Emergency Medical Instrument model LY - Number 12… E.M.I.L.Y. 12 - responsible for the care and upkeep of Captain North if the situation was to arises. A situation has arisen… I will now diagnose…”
Charm, PBM, Joy and Emirie all looked at M2 and asked “Captain?” in unison.
“Please, not now,” M2 told them. “E.M.I.L.Y., Rob has taken a heavy dose of radiation within the last twenty-four hours. The radiation was removed, but the damage seems to have already been done.”
The ball spun back and forth, first ‘looking’ at M2, then at its patient. “Has there been any other events?” it asked.
M2 nodded. “North transformed roughly six hours ago…”
“Illogical… illogical,” it squawked. “Transformation to power 1 Moltres should have healed the Captain. The patient is not showing signs of transformational healing.”
PBM looked at M2 with an even further puzzled face. “Didn’t you say that every time he transformed, he looses five years from his life?”
“Overall, yes,” M2 said, rubbing his chin. “But the momentary benefits are that he is healed of any wounds he may have had at the point of transformation… The ball’s right.”
“Of course I am right!” the orb chirped. “I have all the medical knowledge of the universe at my disposal… or at least I do now…”
M2 looked at the device as it began to run up and down North’s body. “Now? Explain…”
The orb stopped and ‘looked’ at M2. “Universal transponder was un-available until roughly six hours ago.”
PBM looked out the tent’s opening. “When the blackness opened up!”
“When Mauvais lost some of his power to Charm,” M2 said. “And around that time, Charm’s powers were opened to her again.”
“Like a jamming signal!” Charm said, slamming her fist into her hand.
“E.M.I.L.Y., could the same thing have happen to North?” M2 asked.
“Affirmative… transformation outsources its energy from an external source.”
Joy gave M2 a serious look. “What are you proposing?” she asked the MewTwo.
Charm knew. She stood up and glared at M2.
“You wouldn’t!” she yelled. “You’d waste his life to turn him into that BIRD again!?”
M2 glared right back at the ShadowFlare Master. “E.M.I.L.Y, stats…”
The orb scanned and read the body of its owner. “Platelet levels down twenty-five percent, marrow to regenerate platelets nearly destroyed, kidney failure in thirty minutes, liver failure… prognosis, death will occur within the next thirty minutes.”
PBM stared at the scientist. “He’s been working around us with all THAT going on in him?”
“Energy of crystal,” the orb said, moving to North’s neck as if to prove a point, “sustaining him.”
“The crystal!” M2 said, reaching over to touch the back of North’s neck to see if he could sense anything.
There was a flash.
M2 found himself within a distorted field of numbers and odd looking gadgets. As he looked about, the world seemed to come into focus, but remained surreal.
“M?” the voice of North resounded in his head. “If you would, please, touch Peanut…”
Everyone stood back. When the large MewTwo had touched the scientist, he seemed to have become rigid.
“M2? Are you all right?” PBM asked. She was surprised to find his paw suddenly
grab hers. She then found herself in the same strange void, standing beside M2. Now some numbers and letters seemed to be
“Peanut, could you please touch Charm?” she heard North request.
“What the…” was all Charm got out before joining in on the weird view. “Oooh yea… we’ve taken the big jump!” she mumbled as she examined the slightly twisted surroundings. A television nearby kept playing over and over an accident with a car and a tree. Another was showing a strange flying saucer like ship, then a striking cat-woman. Other monitors would fade into view and then would vanish, each with their own odd picture.
From above the jumbled views lowered a tube of light that a figure stepped out of.
“Rob, where the frack are we?” Charm harped at the figure. Then she stood back at what she saw.
It was indeed North, but younger, and in a strange uniform, not his lab coat.
“Welcome to my mind… I suggest you disregard anything that might look weird here… the mind is a strange place to visit…”
M2 looked at the vision before him with a quirky expression. “Rob, it would be less strange if the words you were speaking would match your mouth as you speak!”
North shook his head. “I’m dying, M… everything’s going to BE out of sync!”
Charm didn’t want to hear that. “NO! There’s GOT’TA be something we can do to stop this!”
“Is there anything we can do, North?” PBM asked.
“Robert,” the image said. “In here, I’m Robert. And M2’s right… the only way to save me is to transform me.”
“But…” Charm said, showing the pain of knowing he was probably right, “but you’ll loose another 5 years of your life!”
“At the rate I’m going, I may loose my life way before that!” Robert said. He walked over to Charm.
She wiped her face as he mussed up her hair. “Amazing,” she said with a smirk. “You think of yourself as twenty pounds lighter than you are!” PBM stifled a snicker, as M2 looked up at whatever there was to look up at.
Robert laughed an out-of-sync chuckle. “I envision myself twenty years younger as well,” he said. “Everyone sees themselves in different ways, as they see their fiends in their own point of views.”
Charm looked over at PBM and M2. She saw PBM highlighted in a pink glow, a ring of flowers around her head. Charm looked at Robert with a puzzled look.
“You see her like this?” she asked.
“I see her innocence,” Robert explained the image.
Charm looked at M2. He stood proud, in a light blue glow, with a look of determination on his face. But in that, she could still make out a smile.
“Let me guess,” she said. “You see his trust and friendship.”
Robert cocked his head. “Is it that easy to read me?” he said smiling. “And I see you as this…”
Charm almost said no, but Robert had passed his hand over her before she could say a word. He showed her a nearby monitor that was reflecting her image.
A young woman looked back at her. No scar shown on her face, only a young woman.
“I see only a determined young lady, noble, dependable and beautiful. I see no scar, I see no hurt or pain, or a dark past that would have her forever hate the world.”
Charm felt a hand on her chin. She turned towards Robert, who kissed her on the forehead.
M2 stood with his mouth agape. PBM looked at him and pushed his chin shut. “Something might fly in,” she said.
Charm looked up, and now saw the older North, complete with lab coat.
“I wish I could have been there,” he said. “I wish I could have been your father… you would have never had such a horrible childhood. But I promise I will always be there to defend your future.”
Charm and the others watched this North step back into the tube of light. “I have the answer to our problem,” he said from the glow.
“Tell us after we transform you Rob,” M2 said.
“NO!” the vision called out. “I must tell you NOW… just in case…”
“He’s right,” Charm said, much to PBM and M2’s surprise.
“It will depend on Charm and you two, but especially Charm,” North said from the light. They saw him hold up what looked like a small mirror. He held it over his head and directed a shaft of light onto Charm.
“ShadowFlare Apocalypse is too slow to take out Mauvais,” North explained, “and it’s too destructive. Also it’s not necessary to destroy Mauvais to defeat him.”
“NOT DESTROY HIM?” Charm yelped, but settled as the light grew brighter on her.
“Not at first at least,” North continued. “We only need to CONTAIN him. I am downloading to you and your hidden partner a new attack. ShadowFlare ENTRAPMENT.”
“Entrapment?” Charm asked almost in a dream state.
North laughed. “Consider it a Zip File for Pokémon,” he said as the light began to dim on her face. “Once activated, the power envelopes the attacked, rendering it into a Pokémon energy pattern. At that point, it can be stored in a Black MasterBall.
“Black MasterBall?” Charm asked as she snapped out of her trance. “I only HAVE one Black MasterBall, and Draco’s in it!”
“We will find a way… have no fear,” North’s voice said, as it trailed off into the distance.
“Robert? ROBERT??” M2 yelled.
“WHOA!” Charm yelped, as she looked like she had been knocked over, and then vanished from the mindscape.
Suddenly, PBM had a Pikachu looking up at her.
“PIKAA! PIKA PIKA PIKAAAA!” it yelled.
“What!?” PBM asked, and then vanished. M2 shrugged and followed by lifting his paw.
They were back in reality, though Charm had been brought back rather abruptly. She was on the ground, rubbing the back of her head. Nurse Joy and Emirie were hugging the ground near her, as the tent shook and heaved. There was a terrible squawking sound rattling everything. A tear in the side of the tent showed where a Murkrow had torn through the fabric and bounced off Charm’s head. It lay nearby twitching.
“Serves you right, filthy bird!” Charm said, rubbing her sore spot.
“Hey, look at that!” Emirie said, pointing at the little orb that was hovering over North.
A materialization beam struck the ground, and two large black PokéBalls appeared.
“Just two?” Charm asked, still rubbing her lump.
“I think I get it,” M2 said. “We get two chances. You do the Entrapment spell, and we get two chances at capturing Mauvais.”
“It’s not a spell!” Charm corrected him. “It’s a power!”
“Whatever,” M2 said. “One way or the other, the first thing we have to do is we need to transform Rob!”
PBM watched the hurricane of black birds outside. “Are you sure we can do that in this situation?” she asked.
“We’ve GOT to!” he told her as he checked out what was going on outside the tent. “Right, here’s what we’ll need to do… We need to get him to the clearing in the middle of the camp - we can’t transform him in here - he’d fry us all in the transformation… I’ll form an energy orb around us large enough to keep us safe from the birds while the morphing process is completing.”
PBM looked at the body. “May I ask if you know HOW to transform him?” she asked M2.
“Umm… Yes, why?”
“Well I don’t!” she said with a bit of exasperation in her tone. “So I guess I’m doing the shield.”
M2 rubbed her shoulder. “You think you can do it?” he asked her.
She looked out the flapping entry. She swallowed and nodded yes. M2 kissed her.
“At’tagirl!” he said. “Let’s get going!”
M2 reached down and removed the special belt buckle device from the scientist. He popped it open, and placed it on the back of North’s neck.
“You take his legs,” Charm started, but found North floating, safely within an orb of M2’s making.
“Huh… Showoff!” she said, smiling.
PBM stood up and started to form the energy ball before her. When she stuck it outside the tent, the Murkrows started to bounce off it in swarms. She had not even opened it to allow everyone inside, but she could feel the bombardment off its surface. She looked back at M2 and Charm.
“GO!” she yelled as she threw her arms wide expanding the field to allow them in.
Charm ducked into the energy field, followed by North’s globe and M2. Finally, PBM entered her field and expanded it to allow more room to move. They quickly trundled to the middle of the camp.
They could see the results of the Murkrow attack. Tents were being shredded, and a trailer was breaking up nearby.
PBM concentrated, and her orb expanded greatly, allowing a wider range to work in. It now covered a good deal of the camp, and the huddled people peered out of their hiding places to see what had become of the birds.
“Jessie, look! It’s North!” James said.
“Damn!” Giovanni growled, looking over at the view in the middle of the camp. Then he saw the two MewTwo.
His eyes popped.
“T-two?” he said. “T-together?”
“Something wrong boss?” Jessie asked, looking at how white he had become.
“I’ll put him here,” M2 said to the ladies as he placed the body on the ground and lowered his levitation bubble. “Move away and I’ll set the device.”
As the girls moved aside, M2 reached down and tapped the activation button on the gadget and stepped away himself.
Once again, the small ball of flame appeared. Giovanni watched in amazement as the fire spun around into a ring, then another, then another. Finally, a last ring lifted the body into the center of the other rings.
A tear rolled down Charm’s face, as the rings closed over the scientist.
But, unlike the last time, when the fire burst and the bird of flames erupted from the conflagration, it flopped to the ground, only slightly afire, and mostly smoldering.
“I don’t understand…” M2 said. “He should have been cured…”
“Cure impossible until signal can be acquired…” the small E.M.I.L.Y. 12 orb said as it buzzed by M2’s head.
M2 snapped his fingers. “That’s it! We’re preventing the signal from reaching him with our shield!” he said. “Peanut, get ready for a transfer of energy shields!”
PBM looked at M2 with a worried expression. It was hard enough to hold her shield she was generating now.
“I guess this will be the ultimate test to see just how compatible we are!” she yelled over the noise of the birds outside her dome.
M2 smiled at her and winked. He then formed a tube of energy around the floundering bird. He brought it up close to PBM’s shield above them. He then looked over at her and nodded.
“On the count of three, open a hole in your field,” he said.
She looked at him with a perplexed expression. “Really?” she cracked.
“I believe in you honey!” M2 called back as he flayed his
paws about in the creation of his tube. “One… two… THREE!”
She looked like she had the worst headache, but she followed orders. M2’s tube opened to the outside.
Instantly, Murkrows dove into it and headed for the helpless Moltres.
“NO!” Charm shouted.
“Signal acquisition!” E.M.I.L.Y. announced. This was followed by a pillar of fire that shot up from the bottom of the tube and showered the landscape around them with burning Murkrows.
From the top of the tube shot the Moltres, calling in
victory as he dove into the Murkrows, driving them away in droves. The children
cheered as the firebird dive-bombed and flamed the evil creatures.
“Moltres! Rapidash! Join him!” Charm commanded her Pokémon. They tore through the shield and began a serious game of Torch-The-Murkrow!
M2 raised his shield up and out over PBM’s, taking over the defense duty. PBM dropped hers, and sighed in relief.
Emirie jumped into PBM’s arms, much to her surprise. “You were great, PBM!” the young girl said, hugging her favorite MewTwo.
Charm watched the North Moltres outside the shield. As he flew in on a close approach, he tipped his wing to her, and continued on.
“Just be ready,” ran though her head. Had Rob spoken to her?
“I will always be there to defend your future,” she whispered to herself. She smiled.
“Gee lady, I haven’t seen you smile like that before!” a runny nose trollop said.
She looked down and flashed her eyes at the critter, sending it off crying for its mommy. She grinned.
“You were supposes to be DEAD, North! DEAD!” Mauvais yelled over the cheering below. A fireball shot between his eyes.
North knew he could not do anything to the beast. It was only a mere token shot. He smiled to himself and flew in after a big plump Murkrow.
“Everybody wants to rule the world!” he sung to himself as he blasted another bird.
Charm watched as the battle in the skies took on heat. There
were Murkrow to deal with, and PBM was already on that, with a sharp purple
blast she liked to use for smaller opponents. Charm joined her with little
“One means sorrow…”
“Two means joy…”
“Three means a letter…”
“Four means a boy…”
The lady MewTwo recited the poem under her breath, as she shot down the carrion feeders from the sky. Charm grinned as she blasted them, listening to their little squawks as they fell. Nurse Joy was busy keeping enthusiastic children from ‘helping’, though one or two did manage to snag a few in the stray empty PokéBalls the Rockets had missed earlier.
PBM paused. Her poem only went up to seven, and she didn’t
know the rest. She shrugged and started again at one.
“One means sorrow…”
Up above North gave a rending cry as he circled high. The flames on his wings danced like the suns rays on the ocean. Mauvais was not pleased. Why would this man not just DIE? It would have been so much easier. But the scientists was all that held the group together, really. Also, Mauvais had a personal vendetta against him.
“Is that all you can do? Make scary faces in the sky? Some monster!” taunted North, circling higher. Mauvais snarled angrily.
“I’ll show you, arrogant scientist. And THEN I’ll tear your precious little friends apart!”
“Hmmm… do you really believe that? I seem to have heard that before,” the firebird chuckled.
With that, Mauvais launched from above in the form of the Black Lugia.
“Whoa ho! Incoming Dodo!” North called out.
“I AM NOT A DODO!” bellowed Mauvais as it targeted its
Back on the ground, lightning bolts were flying skywards.
“CHUUUUUUUU! CHUUUUUUU! CHUUUUUUUU! CHUUUUUUUU!”
Fizzled birds fell to the ground around the Pikachu as it let off thousand-volt jolts. The flocks of birds were thinning now.
“Keep it up! Keep
it up!” M2 cheered on as he held the shield up.
But he looked around pensively.
He had the feeling that when they ran out of birds, red ghosts might show
“CHUUUUUUU! CHUUUUUUU!” The Pikachu jolted again at the incoming Yamikarasu. The yellow electric mouse laughed out loud as it watched them thud to the ground around it. But it shivered at the sight beside it - Nurse Joy was in on the action now, striking those that came too close to the tent area with a makeshift sling made of a pillowcase.
“Ha HA! Take that you nasty little rats with wings!” she crowed, only to get a scared-glare from Pikachu. The kids were having a hard time trying to figure out this image as well… They had never seen a Nurse Joy show fighting spirit, let alone attack Pokémon.
“It’s… it’s just not possible…” stammered Giovanni as his
head began to spin.
“What? What’s not possible, boss?” asked James, enjoying an Onigiri, or ‘donut’ as he called it. Giovanni looked out of the tent he had dove into when the attack began again. Sure enough, there were the two MewTwo again - one holding the shield up, and the other blasting at the Murkrows with the help of that demonic girl he had a fetish about trying to kill. He wondered if maybe he should check the label on his medication more carefully.
“It’s not possible,” he reiterated. “Only one project officially succeeded… and it got away… there can’t be another one out there!”
Jessie peered out too. “You mean them?” she asked, pointing to PBM and M2. Giovanni nodded silently, his skin tone was pasty and clashing with his tasteless suit. Jessie smiled. “I think they’re cute,” she stated.
Giovanni gave her a look that made her not only doubt his
sanity, but hers too.
“CUTE? Do you realize that one, if not both of them will want to kill me?” he demanded. James could have believed it of M2 after seeing the look on his face when he had heard that PBM had been hurt, but not of the female herself. And, much like the Rocket Agents with him, the Boss never realized that at one time in the past, one of these ‘cute’ creatures had blanked his mind of the knowledge that there were more MewTwo about than he had in his mental catalog.
“You sure Boss? Why would they want you dead?” he asked. Giovanni shook his head. The ignorance!
“They’re vengeful creatures! My own escaped, accursed thing!” he spat while mistakenly pointing at M2 thinking it was his own grumpy MewTwo. “All the other attempts were complete failures - the only surviving one died days later!”
Jessie and James didn’t know what he was talking about. “Attempts?” Jessie asked. “To capture you mean? I don’t know, Boss, I can’t see PBM as being vengeful, really. The kids love her! And M2’s a nice guy…”
Giovanni glared at her in disbelief. “A nice gu-ieeee?” he drew out in shock - If
she was not Myamoto’s daughter…
“The Team Rocket Laboratories and the Splice and Dice Labs cloned them from Mew DNA, you idiots.” Jessie and James had a vague outline of the fact that the two were clones, but no real information.
“But Boss, North and that one are from another dimensional level,” James said, matter-of-factly.
Giovanni looked at him as if he were a Martian himself. “What ARE you blathering about?” he quipped. He then noticed that the children were collecting free Murkrows with their empty PokéBalls.
“AM I THE ONLY ONE PAYING ATTENTION HERE?” the leader bellowed at his four operatives in the tent with him. “WHY ARE YOU NOT OUT THERE COLLECTING THOSE MURKROWS FOR TEAM ROCKET? GET GOING!”
The four of them snapped to attention and scurried out while Giovanni rubbed his forehead and went to lie down.
North Moltres was taunting Mauvais, ShadowFlare Pokémon
were burning the dark birds, the Pikachu was shocking them, the MewTwos sent psychic
blasts out and Charm started in with her katana, then switched to her flaming bow
and arrows. She wanted some target practice - she never missed them too.
After a bit, with the majority of the dark birds knocked from the skies, Charm landed on the ground in one of the few open spots left and glared up at Mauvais.
“See what we have done to your Yamikarasus? YOU’RE NEXT!” Charm yelled as she took flight again, going straight for the dark creature, where North also was.
Mauvais growled as he swooped around a number of shots and blasts sent in his direction. “You know, I never wanted you, and you’re starting to piss me off!”
“Yea, and…? Didn’t you know? THAT’S MY JOB!” Charm said sarcastically. “Besides, the FEELING IS MUTUAL!”
“I’ll tear you apart! But the SCIENTIST dies first!” Mauvais cackled. He twisted and dove for the Moltres that was now below him.
Charm glared in anger having been brushed off like that. “Not if I can help it!” she harped. She slashed the air multiple times with her sword, sending energy ribbons at the beast. They sliced off pieces of his tail, which became liquid splotches that splattered around her. He roared and changed directions towards her.
“That’s it bakaaaa!” she grinned as she turned about and spanked her tail-end at him. “Haven’t you done enough damage to the man? C’mon… you’re going for the older people, you weakling! What’s the matter? Not able to handle us younger folks with more energy?”
“How undignified!” the creature snarled as it stroked the air in pursuit of the ShadowFlare Master.
Charm poured on the speed for a moment to make the beast followed her further away from North. She then suddenly stopped, turned and flared the monster.
It was then she noticed that the Moltres was right behind Mauvais as well, and flared its rear end as well.
“ROB!” Charm yelled through gritted teeth. She had wanted Mauvais not to pay any attention to him. But now it was turning back on him, having twisted about to avoid her shot, but had received a full blast in the rear.
“Try the entrapment!” rang through her head. “WE will distract him!”
“Rob?” she asked herself while tapping her head. Now he was doing MewTwo-type mental tricks as well? She came to a stop and hovered. She held her hands near each other. A black mist appeared between them. Within the mist formed a Black MasterBall.
M2 saw it. He looked beside himself and Peanut. The MasterBalls they had been given were still there.
“Oh, Rob isn’t going to like this…” he grumbled.
“Shadow Entrapment!” Charm said, trying not to make it too
The shadow mist carried the Black MasterBall quickly towards Mauvais, but he had heard her command and dodged to his right. He spun about and fired a hyperbeam at her, most of which she managed to deflect, but it still managed to knock her off her ShadowDisk.
“What was that?” North grumbled as he dove for the falling ShadowFlare Master. He curved in to allow her to softly land on his back.
“Are you okay back there?” he asked as he quickly drifted towards the MewTwo and allowed her own Dark Moltres to continue on with the battle behind them.
“Yea… thanks,” she answered while shaking the stars from her vision. She looked up and saw the MasterBall she had created with the Entrapment energy fizzle and vanish. She snapped her fingers, causing the ShadowDisk to zip back to its mistress. She leapt back onto it and looked up.
“I don’t know, Rob,” Charm said. “That doesn’t look
strong enough to harm that beast.”
North nodded. “Yea, but did I see a PokéBall within the energy?”
“Yea, I created it on the fly… why?” she asked.
North slapped his head with a burning wing.
“Oops… what did I do wrong?” she asked as Mauvais glared down on the pair, but was instantly tackled by Charm’s Moltres.
North pointed down at M2 and PBM, both of whom had their Black MasterBalls. “THEY catch the energy. All you need do is send it on its way and control the power flow through your body. DON’T waste the energy creating a PokéBall! You have the hardest part to this. The Entrapment power must snare ALL the dark areas Mauvais covers.”
Charm looked at the Moltres as if he’d just said she looked good in pink. “What do ya mean by ‘the entire black area’? You mean more than just that bird?”
North circled her. “Charm, Mauvais is more than just that thing flying above us. He is also that black shield that’s been covering us!”
She looked around them. The shield? She looked over at the slit along its horizon that had been created by siphoning off that slight bit of energy that they had used to revive herself and North.
“THE ENTIRE BLACK AREA!?”
she yelped. “THAT WHOLE AREA
North nodded. “And it’s going to be harder to tell where it is, if we don’t get this done quickly.”
Charm looked back again. Along the open areas of the shield, she could see that the outside world was heading towards sunset.
“What do we do?” she asked.
“I would suggest continued weakening of the beast,” North said, watching Charm’s Moltres attack the beast.
Charm smiled, and pulled out a PokéBall. “I have JUST the one!”
North smiled, and nodded. “DracoFire would be handy right about now!”
North and Charm looked down. Trainers from the town folks and some of the children were now tossing their own PokéBalls they had brought with them. Someone also seemed to have found the stash that the Rockets had taken at the beginning of their Hayrides as well, and were tossing them about.
“Charizard! GO!” came a very familiar cry from one end of the camp.
“Oh crap… the Twerp’s joined in!” Charm mumbled.
The area was starting to swarm in Pokémon. “Then again, Draco might not be needed right
now,” North suggested.
Then, someone yelled “EAMUDO! GO!” It was followed by the popping of a
PokéBall, and the sound of a steel blade being set loose!
“WHOA! Steel bird in-bound!” North called out, ducking under the slashing wings as it flew past. “Geeze, a Skarmory! I’d hate to see what happens if it rained on that one!”
Charm fiddled with Draco’s PokéBall and shrugged. “Oh well, it would have been impressive,” she sighed as she put the ball back on her belt.
“Remember,” North reminded her, “put all the power into the ShadowFlare Entrapment, okay?”
Charm looked at him. “ShadowFLARE? I only called it Shadow…”
North shook his head. “You halved the power then as well.”
Now it was Charm’s turn to slap her head.
“Look, don’t worry… Hope that you just fooled the old bird, ea? He’ll think that wasn’t hard to beat, so he’ll ignore it the next time… and believe me, at full power, he’ll not escape it!”
North wasn’t in the shape to rub her head, or give her a hug of encouragement, but he did tap his bill on her shoulder. He then dove down towards M2’s shield. She turned her attention towards the beast above, and saw the other Pokémon attacking it.
Ketchum’s Charizard dove in, bathing the blue-black skin of Mauvais in flames. The beast yelled, then turned towards the fire dragon and shot a torrent of water at him, which struck him squarely in the back. His tail flames nearly snuffed out, but it flared again as soon as he got close to the ground.
The Pidgeot was next, flashing by at sonic speeds. But Mauvais found it more annoying than trouble, and finally swatted the bird from the sky. Then he looked down at the newest arrival.
“YOU!” he announced.
North stopped his approach towards M2 and looked up. That wasn’t a statement of recognition… that was Mauvais pointing out something… he WANTED!
“GET AWAY!” North yelled to the strange steel Pokémon. But as it attempted to start a slash move, Mauvais reached out and snagged the bird. To the horror of all below, and the intense shrill of both the bird and its trainer, Mauvais ATE the Skarmory!
“Damn!” Charm said. “THAT’S THE LAST ONE BEAST!” she shouted. She pulled the DracoFire MasterBall out again and reared back to toss it, but stopped as she saw something happen.
“Dear god, no!” North exclaimed watching Mauvais’ wings change to steel! “YOU SAID YOU COULDN’T DO THAT ANYMORE - ABSORB A POKÉMON’S POWERS BY EATING THEM!”
“Heh… I lied…” the monster grinned as it made a slicing sound. “Is that a Pikachu I see down there?” he said, licking his beak.
Three streams of flames struck him in the face, and he flew backwards to avoid the heat.
Charm seared in rage. But she also noticed that when the flames struck Mauvais, the outer edge of the blackness retracted slightly. The added powers of the Pokémon needed more of Mauvais’ reserves to control!
“M2, drop the shield,” North called out. “It’s not needed anymore!”
The energy wall dropped, and M2 bent over and held his knees. A human hand patted him on the shoulder. He looked up and found North again, also looking a bit tapped out, but certainly better than before he had transformed him.
“Good job, boss,” the human told the MewTwo.
M2 nodded. “That didn’t help, though…” he said, pointing up at the upgraded Mauvais.
North shook his head. “I should know better than to trust power hungry birds…” he said. He then noticed PBM clutching her Pikachu.
“If he comes anywhere NEAR my Pikachu…”
North gave her a wary eye. “I hear she’s dangerous when threatened…” She gave the scientist a slightly hurt look, then smiled.
“Listen, I need you two to be ready with those Black MasterBalls. Are you up to it?”
M2 shook his head. “Just let me catch my breath…”
“Ready, willing, and more than able!” PBM replied.
Giovanni sat on the cot, not believing much of what he
was seeing that day. Of course, he had started the day, or was it the day
before, as a zombie… but it was getting more hectic as it wore on, and what just
walked up to him was the coup de grâce.
“Excuse me, but have you seen Professor North?” a Flareon asked him.
Giovanni sat and stared at the creature. Not only was it talking to him, but it had a pair of wings - Burning fiery feathery wings. He just pointed with his thumb to the right.
“Thank you,” the Flareon said, and trotted off. Giovanni then saw two rather large white feet tromp past before his lowered sight, shaking the ground with each step.
“Sigh…” he said, and fell over to sleep again.
James tapped Jessie on the shoulder. She looked back from her work of capturing as many Murkrows as possible to see the unique Eevee evolution trot by.
“I wonder who’s that is?” she asked with an itchy finger on the PokéBall in her hand.
“Maybe it’s HIS!” James squeaked as the ground shook.
Jessie looked over her shoulder. “Don’t be absurd James! Water and fire don’t mix!”
“Fuego!” North called out as he saw the fiery creature come through the crowds from behind a trailer. “What are you doing down here from the Prime? Is Ayako with you?”
“No she isn’t, North… she’s on assignment,” he said in his light barking voice.
M2 acknowledged Fuego. He had been the one who finished off the Black Lugia during the first battle. PBM saw him for the first time, and was amazed by the beauty of his wings. He looked at her also in slight awe.
“A lady MewTwo?” he asked, looking at M2 and North, who both nodded.
“To each dimensional level its own,” the scientist noted.
Fuego smirked at M2.
“Really?” he laughed.
“Hey, hey!” North scolded the Flareon. “He’s been a perfect gentleman!”
“Wait until I tell the guys back at home!” Fuego smiled. M2 glared at him.
North shook his head. “So, if you’re not here with Ayako, how DID you get here?”
“Courtesy of Forrestal… They would have sent in their ships, but there is some sort of dampening field preventing them from entering this area. Even with the open edge, they can’t get in.”
“Forrestal?” Peanut asked. “What’s a Forrestal?”
“One of their starships, like the one I told you about earlier that rescued me from my level,” M2 explained to her.
“So we hiked it in,” Fuego continued. “Once we were able to clear the edge of the
shield, we flew ahead.”
North nodded. “We’ve been having the same problems… that field must be directed towards high energy bursts and carrier signals… Scanning rods and dimensional buffers are working…”
Fuego looked at the scientist’s uncustomary sports jacket. “Ah, the pockets work, ea?” he commented. “Listen, there is a reason I’m here… we brought along a friend.”
Again the ground shook. The thud had come from behind the large trailer that Fuego had come around. North, M2 and PBM noticed that people were moving back to let the thumping thing pass by.
A gray-white head was the first thing they saw - Then the rest of the body came around the corner.
“Lugia!” North exclaimed.
“Professor North…” it replied back with a nod and what could be taken as a smile.
“You… you know me? Fuego, is this the Lugia from THIS level?”
The Flareon shook his head. “No, this is Lugia of OUR level - Prime Lugia!”
North bowed slightly to his old friend. “We are honored by your presence, sir!” he
told the god of the water.
The large off-white and light blue bird acknowledged him. “Captain Strom figured that I would know more about the creature attacking here than THIS level’s Lugia.”
“I’m getting a headache,” M2 said.
“We are here to assist,” Fuego barked. “Ready for… service… sir… what in the world?” he stammered as he saw Mauvais’ steel wings for the first time, which the beast had just used on a Zubat. The sonic-bat’s wings fluttered away as its body crashed into the trees outside the field area.
“Up to his usual evil, I see,” White Lugia grumbled as he watched the battle above.
A spark zapped in Mauvais’ head, and he looked down at the gathered below.
“LUGIA!” he bellowed. “Oh, and not just ANY Lugia – MY OLD NEMESIS from last year! Oh my, it is good to see you again! My dinner has arrived!”
“Riiiight!” Fuego growled and smirked as he launched himself airborne.
“Ah, and the matchstick dog too!” Mauvais chortled. “This must come to some surprise to you to see me, doesn’t it fire beast?”
“Fuego, follow any order Charm gives you, hear me?” North yelled, pointing at the lady on the glowing disk.
“Got it boss!” he yelled back. “Fuego, IGNITE!”
Where the Flareon with wings once was, now a blazing fire hound flew, thrice the size he had been, and this time, faster than he had been when he had tried both ignition and wings before. He left a trail of flames in the sky as he headed for Charm.
“I’d best be joining the fray,” Lugia said. He stopped as North touched his wing.
“Listen, just drain his power. We’ve got a plan to capture him, but his energy MUST be drained.”
Lugia spread his wings wide. “Capture him, ea?”
North cocked his head. “Sounds weird, but he can’t be destroyed yet. We thought we did him in before.”
Lugia nodded. “The Black Lugia shall be mine!”
Lugia stutter-stepped as he was caught in mid launch by North’s comment. He looked at the scientist and blinked. “Pardon?”
“Mauvais,” M2 repeated. “He’s changed his name to
“So, now you can’t sue him for copyright infringement!” North kidded the water god with a grin.
“North,” Lugia said with a grumble, “sometimes your humor is ill-timed. You’re just as, what would Rose call it… whacked out as I remember you.” With that, he blasted the ground with the beats of his wings.
M2, PBM and North watched him climb as those above pressed their attack on Mauvais to allow Lugia time to gain altitude.
“The water god just called me whacked out!” North smiled.
“He’s right, you know,” M2 said.
North grinned at his friend. “Get ready, you two…” He then addressed the crowds watching the battle.
“Everyone - Return your Pokémon!” he called out. “We’re sending in the big boys now!”
Charm peeled off a strafing run she had made, peppering
Mauvais with fire-grenades with one hand while using her sword hand to slice
Haunters and Murkrows with her burning blade. Her anger about messing up her
first attempt at the Entrapment spurred her fury. She saw that the MewTwo were joining her, and
that she had two chances left.
She had better make these two good.
As she made a turn for a return run, she noticed what looked like a fiery comet heading up to meet her from the ground. At about twenty feet away it stopped. As the fires swirled away from its body, a huge burning fox-hound appeared. It was almost the size of her own dark Arcanine, except this one had wings and could FLY!
“Hello Charm,” it said in a rather light voice that
betrayed the huge beast’s true size.
She blinked at it. “Uh… hi?”
“My name is Fuego,” it greeted her. “Our friend Professor North has asked me to help you out, and to obey your orders.”
She blinked again. “Obey me? What, is he? Crazy?”
The comment caught Fuego by surprise as he cocked his head. “You are so… how to put this nicely… reassuring? What would you like me to do?”
Charm shook her head as she face-palmed her forehead – yet another mouth to feed. She looked down at the now human North, who gave her a thumb’s up sign, and then back at Fuego. “Umm… I don’t know… just blast the beast to hell!” she told him. “Just don’t completely destroy it - we plan to capture it or something…”
Fuego cocked his head to the other side now. “Blast him to hell? Umm, I can do that… but capture?”
“I DON’T KNOW!” Charm yelled as she went back to lobbing her fireballs. “ASK ROB! HE’S THE BRAINS HERE!”
Fuego floated back down to North.
“Are you quite sure you wish me to follow her orders?” he questioned. “She seems… unsure… of herself.”
The scientist shrugged. “She’s under a great deal of pressure right now,” he told him. “Just do what’s needed to protect her while she’s setting up the Entrapment she and the MewTwo will be doing - after all she IS the main part of my plan.”
“Understood,” Fuego said. “She certainly isn’t Ayako…”
“That’s not what matters here,” North partly scolded him in her defense. “Now you be a good Flareon, and defend her!”
Fuego tipped a wing at him and launched himself skywards again.
North looked back on the three behind himself. “Are we ready then?” he asked.
Lugia and M2 nodded and took to the air. Charm zipped by
on her ShadowDisk and gave North a sour look. PBM moved to follow after them,
but noticed the small electric rodent who still hung determinedly on her
“No,” she said, gently but firmly. “You can’t come.”
“PiKAA!” it said stubbornly. She shook her head.
“I said no. You’ll only get hurt. And I don’t want that now, do I?” she asked, staring it face-to-face. Its beady eyes flickered in an attempt to avoid her gaze. It drooped its ears and snorted.
“Pikaaa,” it agreed sadly. It leapt down to the ground as she levitated. “Pika-piii Pikachu,” it said stiffly as it wagged a finger at her.
“I will,” she smiled as she began to climb. “Now go where you’ll be safe.” She took off after her companions.
The Black Lugia fluttered its reflective silver-shard
wings in the light of the fires below. A deep throaty laugh escaped.
“Foolish - foolish mortals!” it chided.
“Umm, excuse me,” Fuego noted as he lighted on the evil creature’s beak, “as hard as it seems to actually OFF YOU in one form of another, when did you actually become immortal?” With that, the fiery beast on Mauvais’ nose exploded.
“WHOA!” North yelped from his vantage point. “That’s a new attack!” He held his breath as he watched the expanding ball of fire grow in size. It took what seemed like an eternity to finally see the Flareon emerge from the conflagration in a streak of flame. But to confirm that the beast was still there, the gaping maw of Mauvais reached out of the fire and snapped at him, just missing his tail.
Fuego flipped over and made a high-speed turn, winging up beside the White Lugia as he began a full out water assault. The Hyper-Flareon combined his fiery blasts with the torrent, creating a mass jet of hot steam.
“Did it just get hot around here?” Charm complained as she tugged on her collar.
“That’s what you get for always wearing black!” M2 kidded her as the pair of MewTwo flew by her.
“Besides, you know that it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity!” Peanut added peeling off to the right.
The searing temperatures that were being created were directed towards the silvery-metal wings that Mauvais swiped about. Soon, the slick, knife-like sounds they had been making turned into a squealing rusty creaking shrill as movement slowed in them.
“Okay… MY TURN!” Charm began gearing up for her attack.
PBM tossed a blast in the creature’s direction whenever its eyes were vulnerable, and M2 kept up waves of shock energy. The seizing of the metal wings forced Mauvais closer to the ground, so people ran for cover. He dropped into a bank of fog the steam had formed. Peanut followed close behind.
Suddenly in the midst of the attacks, PBM found herself
staring at Mauvais at point-blank range. It snapped for her, but she dodged him
“You can’t keep that up for long, child,” it snarled as he whipped around again in close pursuit. “I know your type!”
She looked about. How had she wound up in the same fog as Mauvais? She vaulted away again, unable to make out the others in the steam the fire and water were creating.
“And do you know what I’m going to do?” he continued to taunt as she flipped away but with a slowing response time as she was becoming lost in the fog. “After I rip you apart… yes, after I rip you apart, just before I kill your friends… especially M2… heh heh heh… I’m going to show him your eyes, dearie!”
With that she spun around and kicked him hard in the
center of his right eye. There was no fear in her face, only unrelenting fury.
“Die burning scum!” she spat. Mauvais fell back, screaming a hawk’s battle cry. She fell backwards through her follow-through. She was surprised by the fact that her tail tapped the grass of the ground near the edge of the camp.
A yellow streak zipped by her in the fog. She wished later that she had seen him
sooner, and had been able to stop him. But the Pikachu just would not listen. Hearing
her voice over the battle, it had run into the fray. The huge steel wing swung
around from the force of her blow and hit her friend by accident. It was hard,
blunt and effective with a sickening crunch.
A final bolt shook through the metal wings of Mauvais as
the fog lit up from the lightning. The Pikachu was tossed back into the
camp. It dropped to earth, its tiny body
thudding and bouncing. It did not move.
“PIKACHUUUU!” screamed the lady MewTwo. “PIKACHU! NO!” She was aware of the nurse that snatched it up and ran, but a light was in her eyes now - a blood wrath like no Pokémon ever saw.
Mauvais crashed to the ground, but quickly launched
himself again. He shot out of the fog
and returned to his first opponent – his Prime opposite.
White Lugia and Fuego peeled in on their attack. M2 kept blasting at it, but was distracted by the torment he knew was coming from below him from Peanut.
“Charm! Get ready!” he yelled. When he saw her, he saw the ShadowFlare Master in heavy concentration, with her hair whipping around her face.
Then he felt a force below him swell. He knew what it was – WHO it was from… and fear swept through him. It was unnatural to him. He SHOOK!
Only she could do this, he was sure of it.
A voice rose above the hubbub of the battle filled with
sorrow, loss, and now vengeance. An aural light erupted through the fog, which
parted around her. One could have sworn there were wings as the mist parted,
but there were none.
Thunder echoed across the field as Charm launched her attack.
“SHADOWFLARE ENTRAPMENT!” she called out, sending a purple and black beam of energy off towards her target.
Their two cries mingled in the hum of battle. Charm’s blats stuck home. M2 whipped out his black MasterBall.
“RED GHOSTS, TO MEEEEEE!!” Mauvais yelled as the beam
snagged his tail and started to climb his body.
“Now where have I heard THAT before?” Fuego asked his wing mate.
White Lugia looked down at the forest. “There! That is where the ghosts have been hiding!”
Red spots began to fly up to their master. Fuego peeled off to begin his strafing run. The heat generated by his wings alone was enough to vaporize the specters.
Mauvais struggled against the power of the Entrapment. Charm spread her arms wide, Draco’s PokéBall in one hand, her katana in the other. Her eyes were shut, and she seemed completely locked into her attack. M2 saw this, and the approaching red ghosts.
“PROTECT CHARM!” he commanded.
Something bumped Charm. She never knew it. And she probably would have had a fit if she had.
Ash Ketchum’s Charizard took a position behind the ShadowFlare Master, casually torching any ghost that attempted to come close to her.
Mauvais’ steel wings were now a hindrance, and with the power of the Entrapment starting to overtake him, he searched for his help. A dozen red ghosts found him, and dove for their master.
“Beware!” Lugia yelled. “Ghosts are heading for Blac… Mauvais!”
Fuego twisted in flight, and dove for the specters. “I can’t get to them!” he yelled, as he saw that the other fire Pokémon around them were busy with their own problems.
Lugia fired a stream of water at the ghosts, but they simply flew through it. This displeased him.
The ghosts entered the beast’s maw.
Charm felt a surge of feedback, but kept the pressure on.
“POWERS REVERT!” Mauvais cried, and the steel wings vanished, his regular Lugian wings returned. With the new strength and speed, he momentarily escaped the energy wall that was forming around him.
“Red ghosts! Attack the attackers!” he bellowed, and then dove down towards the trees, vanishing for a moment behind them. He came back up over them swallowing.
“Uh oh…” North said, watching the monster fly over, and feeling water splash everyone as he passed. “Watch it! He’s eaten again!”
White Lugia began to dive at Mauvais, but suddenly felt a wave of sound strike him. Mauvais had a golden horn now protruding from his head.
“Blast it!” North yelled, holding his ears. Golden horn… he’s eaten a SeaKing! He’s using supersonic attack!”
“There must have been a creek back there!” Joy yelled back.
The air shimmered with the ultrasonic waves. White Lugia swooped down, following the same path Mauvais had taken just moments before. Soon, those who could still stand and watch saw a twisting, churning funnel of water rising above them, the water god spinning it into a shield around himself. He charged Mauvais again.
The shrill sound did not seem to faze Charm at all, as her entrancement kept the Entrapment powers flowing. It whipped about trying to find its target once again.
North looked about with a pair of pillows pressed against his ears. He climbed the hill to check on the progress of the energy shield. When he got there, he saw darkness. Night had fallen outside the energy barrier, and it was now impossible to see where the shield was, and the night sky…
Then there was a flash of light - Then another.
“A storm! There’s a storm going on outside the barrier!” he told himself.
True enough, flashes of lightning were illuminating the outer edge of the dark energy barrier. North could clearly see that the shield had shrunk.
“Keep it up! Keep it up!” he cheered to the Pokémon.
M2 looked down at North, his hands full of pesky red ghosts, and shook his head. “Bad enough we have that sonic attack, we DON’T need a blasted CHEERLEADER!”
Lugia bounced his funnel off Mauvais, who stopped his attack briefly. He spun around and throttled the water shield with his tail, shattering it and striking the water god as well and sending him back.
But the delay was enough. Charm’s energy attack once again found its mark, and grabbed Mauvais. He roared and looked over his shoulder at the fiery flying Eevee upgrade nearby.
Fuego watched as the black behemoth struggled against the energy. He looked down at the girl that held it within her containment field. The beast followed his gaze and growled.
“If I take you out, I will be unstoppable!” Mauvais bellowed. He twisted and started to drop in on Charm. He lowered his horn and pointed it in a goring position.
He suddenly found his face covered in flames as Fuego dove in. He pulled up and doused Fuego as he passed. The Flareon managed to keep enough flames going to make a sloppy stumbled filled landing near North.
The enraged PBM waited. She had called the Pokémon. They should have been there by now… Then she remembered her disfigured flute, and Fuego’s words earlier…
“…but there is some dampening field preventing them from entering this area…”
“Nutz!” she grumbled. Then she saw Fuego get soaked, and now a new attack on Charm by Mauvais.
“Oh, NO YOU DON’T!” she announced, but was promptly held back by red Haunters!
“Get OUT OF MY WAY!” she shouted.
“HAW-HAW-HAWWWW!” the Haunters screeched.
Mauvais started to dive fast on the ShadowFlare Master. The Charizard was not going to be able to stop the beast, but he stood his ground anyway.
He flew as close to the aura energy in front of Charm as he could, and spread his wings wide. None shall pass!
Charm was fully into the program now. She felt the order of the powers come to her, the feel of the energy that was within her and outside as well.
“SHADOWFLARE ENTRAPMENT - PHASE 2!” she yelled with an echo in her voice, much to the surprise of the Charizard, who was forced to move away quickly. The energy from her hands now expanded, wide and immense. Stringers of dark plasma bound and danced across the remainder of the dark energy shield above them. The new power yanked and grabbed at the evil shield, replacing its power with the Entrapment’s own.
“NO! NO!” Mauvais yelled. “I must STOP her!” The field was gaining on his body. The horn sparkled as he pointed it straight at her again and lunged…
White Lugia smashed into Mauvais, twisting and tying his body into the evil creature’s own.
“What? What are you DOING?” Mauvais shouted as he attempted to blast the water god with another supersonic burst of sound as they tumbled and fell.
“NOW!” Lugia yelled at M2 and PBM.
“But we can’t!” PBM cried as she watched the tangled mess as it was enveloped into the energy of the Entrapment.
“NOWWW!!!” shouted Lugia again.
The shock of the yell startled PBM. A red ghost knocked the MasterBall from her hands.
“NO!” she cried. She flew down attempting get it before it smacked the ground, but was blocked by Red Haunters.
“IDIOTS! You’ll get your own master as well!” she yelled.
But it was too late. The black and white mass, shrouded in Entrapment energy, crashed to the ground near North and Fuego. As they dove for cover, a lone oversized PokéBall bounced nearby and snapped open.
A whirlwind erupted within the shield. What looked like a single long drawn out lightning bolt struck the MasterBall, as the remaining energy within the shield was siphoned into it. Then, the twisted pile beside it began to be drawn into it. The sounds of containment fields, compression scanners, force phase buffers and assorted life scan devises within the capsule could be heard as the impossible mass continued to flow into it.
PBM finally had it with the ghosts. She snapped an orb of
energy around herself, and blasted the ghosts with twelve-hundred degrees
Kelvin. As the vapors drifted away, she saw the remaining waft of Entrapment
energy, and what looked like the sky, fall into the ball. It snapped loudly shut.
“LUGIA!!” she shouted.
But now, all was silent, save the rain.
North looked at the droplets as they sizzled off Fuego’s back. “Rain! It’s raining!” he said, pulling his com unit out of his pocket.
“Kinza to North, Kinza to North… come on Rob! Call back! Our scanners show the field’s gone!”
North smiled and scratched the Flareon’s fur. He looked behind himself. The Black MasterBall sat smoldering behind him. Peanut landed near it.
“North to Kinza… We’re still here,” he said, tired and hurting.
“What’s your situation? Are there any casualties?”
North looked at the ground. PBM was sitting in front of the MasterBall, just staring at it. The rain ran down her face hiding the tears. M2 landed beside her and joined her in what was quickly becoming a patch of mud. She buried her face into his shoulder and cried.
“We’ve taken a big one, Kinza,” North replied. “Send in the rescue crews. We’re all very tired.”
Charm looked at her katana in her one hand, then at DracoFire’s PokéBall in her other. Her shoulders ached. She stretched and cracked some bones. She then saw a bewildered muzzle of Ketchum’s Charizard as it blinked in her face.
“Did we win?” she asked. The Charizard snorted, and flew back down to his master.
“Huh! How rude!” she commented. Then she noticed she was wet. “Yuck, it’s raining!” She flew down near North, and joined in with her group.
“What happen?” she asked. “Did I get… him?”
She saw the look on M2’s face – His eyes were deep and wet, with a look of shocked sorrow overflowing him. And her friend PBM’s face was buried in his shoulder.
“What happened?” she asked again, this time nearly in a
“We had a two for one,” North quietly told her as he rubbed her shoulders. “You did an excellent job, but Mauvais attempted to stop the Entrapment by killing you. Lugia stopped him by tackling him and holding him in your field…”
“Wait a minute,” Charm asked with anger rolling into her tone, “who the hell threw the MasterBall?”
“One of Mauvais’ own Red Ghosts…” Fuego told her. “It knocked it out of PBM’s hands, and then prevented her from getting it back. As soon as it struck the ground, it activated and drew them both in.”
Charm stood dumbfounded by what she heard. “His own ghost got him?”
North scratched his chin as he examined the large
PokéBall. “You know, it makes me wonder
if that was Mauvais’ plan all along… he failed to get Lugia last year… now,
unless we can extract the two of them, he has Lugia to fight with for eternity…”
The thought left a pall over the group, as the town folks and the children looked on at the sight of the MewTwo and the MasterBall in the mud. Soon, rescue craft began to arrive in the area with their lights illuminating the darkness.
And the Roll Play Rolls On…
